Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in Marietta, GA is holding a book drive for the entire month of November, with a goal of raising 100,000 books for Books for Keeps. You do not have to be a member of Mt. Bethel church to donate books – all donors and volunteers are welcome!

Donate Your Books

Books for Keeps needs fun, popular books in very good condition for children in Pre-K through 12th grade for its youth summer reading program. MBUMC is also collecting books of any kind for Books for Keeps’ book sale fundraiser. Cookbooks, art books, and current fiction are especially popular. No encyclopedias or textbooks, please.

Bring your books to our “Collection Day” event Monday, Nov. 21st from 9am-2pm. Our founder, Melaney Smith, will be there sorting books with a crew of Mt. Bethel volunteers. Just go in the front door of the church and they’ll point you to the Main Office.

For the rest of November, bring your books to the front office of Mt. Bethel Church, or, if you have a large load, leave your boxes of books in the Pod in the back parking lot, near the gym. If you will need help unloading, please contact Cliff at the email address above to arrange an appointment. 4385 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta.

No Books to Donate?

1. Hold a book drive in your office or neighborhood, then bring the books to MBUMC. It’s as easy as sending an email and sitting a box in your garage or office – and it’s fun! MBUMC will provide verbiage and instructions.

2. Purchase books from the BFK Amazon wishlist. Purchases will be shipped directly to Books for Keeps.

3. Make a tax-deductible donation to the Books for Keeps “Wimpy Kid campaign”, an effort to fund a deep-discount purchase opportunity for this rarely-donated, most-requested book.

4. Donate funds: MBUMC will accept funds on Books for Keeps’ behalf (look for us in the vestibule after services each Sunday), or you can donate directly to Books for Keeps.

2. Communications:
Help MBUMC spread the word about the book drive. MBUMC will provide messaging and/or brochures for volunteers to share via email, Facebook, or at other MBUMC events.

A Few Special Needs

1. Stackable plastic storage bins: These bins will be used for Mt. Bethel’s book sorting days, then donated to Books for Keeps for their permanent sorting operation. Need: 50

2. Folding tables: These tables will be used for Mt. Bethel’s book sorting days, then will be donated to Books for Keeps for their permanent sorting operation. Need: 10 six-foot sturdy folding tables.

3. Packing supplies: Packing tape, box labels, scissors, box-cutters and Sharpies.
