Got books? We want ’em!

Books for Keeps has drop-off locations around Athens and Elberton, and we verified drop-off information and hours with our partners, below, in early August 2020. Regardless, please call ahead to a drop-off location before bringing books, so that you can ensure that you’re following any guidelines used by these businesses – including what entrance to use, whether you should remain in your car, or whether masks are required. We want to accept your donated books and be good neighbors to these businesses!

PSA_2400Books for Keeps has a great need for new or gently-used books for children and young adults in Pre-K through 12th grade. We accept books of any kind, for children or adults.

***Please do not donate textbooks and encyclopedias. These books, unfortunately, do not sell at our annual book sale and will likely be recycled.***

We use those books we can in various youth programs (including adult books suitable for high school students). Those we can’t use in our programs, we sell at our annual BFK Book Sale fundraiser. Check out our wish list to see a current list of in-demand titles. For more information, contact us

U.S. mail

The US Postal Service offers a special Media Mail rate that makes shipping books surprisingly affordable. (For example, it only costs about $4 to mail 30-40 paperback Junie B Jones books.) We recommend that our mail-in donors focus on current, popular books with colorful covers for elementary school children. Books with old-fashioned covers or excessive wear and tear are not as popular with the students. Note – textbooks and encyclopedias are not needed.
