Community Book Fair
Community Book Fair

THE COMMUNITY BOOK FAIR IS BACK! The Community Book Fair is back in 2023 and will once again be FREE and open to the community thanks to our sponsors!
*******************************************************
Our Community Book Fair is a month long event where we invite the public into the Books for Keeps warehouse and give away the books in our inventory. Thanks to the generosity of our community partners and sponsors, we will be keeping this FREE format indefinitely!
The Community Book Fair will be held @ 420 Athena Dr, Athens, GA 30601 on the following days and times:
October 5-6, 2:00-6:00pm
October 7, 10:00am-2:00pm
October 13, 2:00-6:00pm
October 14-15, 10:00am-2:00pm
October 19-20, 2:00-6:00pm
October 21, 10:00am-2:00pm
This event is open to the public and we no longer limit capacity. However, we ask that those interested take note of the following:
- Parking is limited! Please park on the designated side of our parking lot and please respect the space of CAM Trading patrons.
- Maximum of 100 books per patron per day to keep our counting stations free (but you are encouraged to come back and shop again on another day!)
- No book scanners will be admitted. Please respect that the goal of this event is to get free books back into the community.
- Please stay home if you are sick or have had contact with someone who is sick.
- We have limited space inside and may need to restrict entry at intervals to avoid the space becoming too crowded. Please be patient with our staff at these times!
Unfortunately, our warehouse space is not ADA compliant. If you have accessibility concerns or need accommodation, please get in touch ahead of your planned shopping day, and we’ll figure out a solution together!
Stay tuned to our social media channels for an updated flyers.
If you’ve volunteered with us in the past and would like help make the Book Fair happen, volunteer shifts will be listed on our Givepulse page here soon!
Book Distributions
Celebrate Christmas in May
with BFK!

No event can deliver that warm-fuzzy feeling straight to your heart quite like a Books for Keeps distribution. We spend all year working – with the help of volunteers and donors – to collect, inspect, and box books for distribution. It really is like Christmas.
The children come, one class at a time, to their school’s media center and select the books they would most like to own. Volunteers help them select books, and ask the students questions that help us align our book-collection needs for the following year.
You can also keep up with what’s happening by signing up for our newsletter.
The Annual BFK Book Sale
*******In 2020, Books for Keeps shifted its model to respond to community needs by removing the financial barrier to acquiring books for community, educational, and personal use. Visit our Community Book Fair page to see how we’ve reimagined this annual event!
We hope to be back to a more traditional – yet still community-focused – model in 2022!
Bunco for Books

Held in January each year
Bunco is a dice game made popular in America the 1920s as an oft raided parlor game. Bunco is so simple, anyone can play. Including YOU! (Don’t worry- we’ll teach you everything we know!)
In 2019, our Bunco for Books event hosted nearly 80 guests for hours of gaming fun. Between tickets sold and our great silent auction, the 2019 event helped Books for Keeps raise over $11,000.
Stay tuned to our Facebook event for updates on sponsors and details.
